Stokesley school have applied to become an academy, they say this is ” to help us to provide the best possible teaching and learning for our students… Academy status would also allow us to determine how our entire budget is spent, and choose service providers who offer best value, rather than having some of that spending determined by the Local Authority.”
This move though is not wholly welcomed with The National Union of Teachers (NUT) voicing concerns, alongside some of the teachers.
The school is now conducting a consultation with parents and staff but is pushing ahead with the move to change.
The school is holding a Parents’ Forum meeting on 13th November at 6p.m. which will be an opportunity to discuss issues from the proposed change. At the meeting governors will be available to answer questions and listen to comments. Anyone interested can contact the school at office@stokesleyschool.org or let them know if they would like to attend. The consultation period ends on 30th November.
