EDITOR’S NOTES The signs of spring are well and truly present now and the lighter nights add to the feeling of the coming summer of sunshine (we hope!) and all it brings. Seamer village Hall also has lots to look
The Jumble Sale held on Saturday was a great success raising £438.36p so far, for the Village Hall funds.
There was a long queue of people waiting for the doors to open at 2pm and the hall was soon packed out with everyone wanting a bargain. Maybe this was due to Jo being on Radio Tees just after 9am promoting it.
The hall was full of items to sell from clothes, footwear, jewellery, books, toys, electrical goods, furniture, household goods and bric-a-brac to plants.
Afterwards people could reflect on their purchases over a cuppa with home made cakes and biscuits.
Thank you to everyone who donated their unwanted goods, to all the helpers and to those of you that came to buy, for making this annual event such a success.
As a new venture, the village hall held it’s first Burn’s Night celebration on January 25th, with 51 villagers and friends enjoying a wonderful evening. Many came dressed for the occasion sporting all forms of tartan.
The evening commenced with Glen McGill welcoming everyone. A three course meal was then served with the haggis piped in by a Scottish piper. The piper and his wife then led the entertainment and had many up dancing a traditional reel.
EDITOR’S NOTES Christmas and New year are over and its back to the grind for most of us! I hope you had a great time but it doesn’t have to end. There are plenty of activities going on within the
BURNS NIGHT – Sunday January 25th at 7pm in village hall
Supper, entertainment & sing-a-long with a Scottish theme
Featuring Stephen Liddle on bagpipes & Ron Kirk on accordion
The village hall held the Christmas pop in party hosting 27 Seamer residents and friends who enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch prepared by the pop in ladies – Janet Bainbridge, Dianne Cutler and Irene Thompson. They also enjoyed the welcome drink of hot mulled wine prepared by Tom Thomas.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the people involved in making the childrens Christmas activity day, it was a super day and my two really enjoyed themselves.
There was just so much seasonal fun to be had, making mince pies, making Christmas cards and decorations, the tombola, the raffle and not to forget the delicious chocolate fountain and the marshmallows! They even got to decorate a Christmas tree before the highlight of a special appearance from Santa himself.
Thank you all and we hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
